Introduction

The thing you need to know about vampires is no two are exactly the same. Sure, there are some things: they all drink blood, they all turn to ash in direct sunlight, they all are virtually immortal… the list goes on. But my point is, the old saying, “You’ve fought one vampire, you’ve fought them all” couldn’t be further from the truth. I know this because I destroy vampires. I hunt them and I destroy them. I have to—to stop my headaches. When I was about thirteen, I started getting these really bad migraines. After trying everything else, my parents finally took me to a treatment facility for migraines. As far as I can tell, that is where it all started for me. After being released form the facility, I began having vivid dreams of stalking, and killing vampires. All through high school I always felt tired but it wasn’t till recently that I discovered why—almost every night since visiting the treatment facility, I have been killing vampires. There is this subconscious personality I have inside me (Freud called it the Id, so that’s what I’ve been calling it) that knows how to fight and destroy vampires. The craziest part is that I recently have discovered that this is what I do most every night, and now I am starting to remember what happens when I hunt. I am now completely conscious each night and I have this voice in my mind instructing me and guiding me through each kill.
You might be thinking at this point, “Holy crap, this guy’s crazy! Why doesn’t he just not listen to the voice and live his normal life?!” The answer to that question is a simple one: the only end to each and every migraine I have, is the destruction of a vampire. At some point of every night, I wake up with a horrible migraine. You know the aura that people describe having during or preceding a migraine? Well, for me at least, the auras I get are a kind of sixth sense that leads me to vampires. Kind of like how sharks can just sense the presence of a sea lion from miles away, I follow the movement of the aura in my head until I find a vampire. Then I destroy the vampire with the help of Id, and then my nightly migraine instantly ends. I know, it sounds pretty crazy, but this is the way I’ve been living my life for the past year or so and I’m kind of starting to get use to all of it.
